I've recently found a website geared towards sports fans. It is a "open source sports network" called BleacherReport.com
I am one of the Community Leaders for the LA Angels Community.
Great articles with some very well know sports writers contributing to the site.

New Functions on Website and Forum....

A new software system has replaced the previous "Dual Login" function on the SeasonTicketCentral.com Website and Forum. Now, you only have to register ONCE for both the Website and the Forum. Once you Register on the Website, your Username and Password work on the Forum.

Several features have been added to the Season Ticket Central Website in the past several weeks. Your Username and Password for the Website work on the Forum, and vice versa. A search function has been enhanced for the Website. Over the next few months, more features will be added.

Old Fashioned Social Networking!

Even with the growth of Social Networking in Cyberspace, there is still a need to be able to "socially network" in person. Long before computers, people actually meet "face to face" at various functions in order to network. Even though the internet has made it extremely easy to network, you still need to be able to socially network the "old fashioned" way, i.e. "face to face". Eventually if you want to achieve your personal/business goals, you must eventually network with others "face to face".

When dealing with season tickets, you can sell all your tickets online and have no "face to face" meetings. But in order to expand your selling space, you must be able to socially network "face to face". Sometimes you can find new customers just by networking. Several times this season, I have sold tickets to someone who is a friend of the person that I orginally had contact with. Word of Mouth is the best advertising anyone can get!

Sometimes things happen that you do not expect from networking. I've found this to be very true for myself this past 4 months. While posting on CraigsList.com I also look for posts from people looking for tickets. I answered one such post about some Angels tickets for a day game back in April. Lo and behold, the person responded to the offer about my tickets (you don't always get a response from your email). It ended up that they found other tickets to that game, but we ended up exchange phone numbers since I was already planning on going to that game, I said "let's meet up at the game", and I can show you the seats that were in my post.

It ended up that they are in the startup phase of a new business, and they inquired about if I knew someone with a particular "skill set" who they needed for work with their startup. I put the startup person in contact with my "skill set" person. Sometimes things don't always work out like you expect them, but sometimes you can be "pleasantly surprised" from the unexpected outcome from your efforts.

Most of the information that came from Ticket Summit 2008 in Las Vegas, was that the secondary ticket industry was looking at both Mobile Technolgy and Social Networking as sources of its expected growth in the near future.

Season Ticket Central's Team will be reporting back in the next few weeks about what we saw, found, and heard at the conference.

Forrester Research is reporting that by the end of 2008, 3 billion dollars will be spent in the secondary ticket market online, with 2 billion dollars of that being spent on sports tickets.

With all the growth in the secondary ticket market, becoming an "educated" consumer will be a task that many first time buyers will have to accomplish before they totally feel comfortable transacting business online.

Ticketmaster CEO eyes role of resold tickets

The ticket resale market is expected to grow about 12 percent on average through 2012, when it will approach $4.5 billion, according to data cited by Ticketmaster.

While it now accounts for an estimated 10 percent to 20 percent of ticket sales, Ticketmaster Chief Executive Sean Moriarty sees it as becoming nearly inseparable from the overall business over time.

The secondary ticket market is growing at an amazing pace. Convience for both the buyer and seller are two factors that are helping to drive the secondary market. Not every season ticket holder has the time to attend every game. Not every sports fan has the financial capital to make the investment in season tickets. The secondary market is where both of those parties are able to meet.

Stubhub recently announced that it was approaching it's 15 Millionth ticket sale. Keep in mind that Stubhub only started in 2000, reached it's 5 million ticket sale in November 2006, and the 10 million mark in sales in December 2007.

An Amazing Comeback!

Heard yesterday that no team has EVER come back being down 3-1 in a NBA Finals. If there ever was a team that had the right people to pull off "something amazing" it's got to be this team. Back in Feb. NOBODY expected the Lakers to even make the playoffs, so things do change!

ESPN Sunday Game of the Week

The Atlanta Braves who have the worst road record going into their series with the LA Angels were 7-24 going into Friday nights game. The have managed 2 wins and are going for a potential sweep of the Angels. Joe Saunders goes for his 10th win this season for the Angels, with Jorge Campillo going for the Braves. Should be a great game to watch on the Sunday night ESPN game of the week.
